Some thoughts before we begin:
A rest is beneficial when we are tired and stressed. It is not about sleeping, so much as resting our mind and spirit, from strain and stress.
Rest is recreating ourselves, by doing something different, and beginning to change ourselves from the inside out.
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
In trying to untangle our thoughts and feelings associated with our abortions, we often find that the old ways of coping don’t work. We use strategies that get us nowhere. We can become weary from trying to untangle our strong emotions.
Another way of looking at it is that we can get caught in a whirlpool of never-ending cycles of emotions and negative thoughts, such as, panic, fear, anxiety or other similar emotions. The thoughts and feelings keep going around and around in our heads. It is tiring.
Some things that can drive the cycles:
Fear of what others think of us, or what we think of ourselves.
Some of us are driven by a need for revenge or justice
Our feelings of increasing helplessness or a lack of hope drive us towards getting help.
We are driven by our pain to find answers in order to get better.
