Welcome to the Healing Leaf “Rest For A While”
Helping you to recover from emotional stress.
On this leaf, we will explore more about how you can take care of yourself and what the benefits are, to help you to recover from the emotional stress of your abortion. We look at the meaning of the word REST, and try to explore what that might mean to you. Resting is often underestimated, by busy women in particular, of its beneficial effects on our body, mind and spirit. Some of you may feel on the edge of burnout because you are doing a lot already. It may be that you will decide, after reading this, to stop doing some things in exchange for something that will benefit you at this time and that’s okay. It’s okay to say no when you need to be looking after yourself..
Rest is about:
Having compassion for ourselves
Coming up for air
Taking a 10,000 feet view.
Having the courage to break out of the usual routine in order to find new ways of taking care of ourselves.
The meaning of Rest
1.The refreshing quiet or repose of sleep:a good night’s rest.

What does rest look like in action?
R is for Recreation, to find what you like to do best, seeking out things that bring life to you.
Taking up a new sport, a craft, and hobby of any kind. From rock-climbing to making lace, baking, writing or making music. Creative arts like drama, poetry, dance, journalling, costume making.
Sports such as walking, running, rock climbing, or swimming.
Hobbies like bird-watching, gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, card or jewellery making.
Some people call this self therapy.
E is for Enjoy life around you. Allow yourself to soak up the good sounds, smells, and sights of this world.
S is for Safety: safe thoughts, safe people, safe places, places you can get help, support, or counselling.
T is for trust: learning to trust again, trust yourself, and trust other people.
What matters the most is that we take control of our own “garden”,
For those with faith.
Dear Father, Thank you for your promise to restore my soul. Thank you that you lead beside quiet waters, and that you promise to take care of me even when I am in darkness. I look in expectation for your goodness to come to me in my distress. I know that you are close to those who cry out. Be with me, I pray. Amen.
